Ways to Give

Charitiable Giving

  • Charitable Giving Dividends
    • donations from your IRA to an operating charity – United Leukodystrophy Foundation qualifies
  • Who can donate?
    • Individuals and couples over the age of 70 ½ with an IRA
  • Why donate through my IRA?
    • Starting at age 72 the IRS mandates traditional IRA owners take annual income withdrawals, known as Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).
    • *Retirement-age individuals and couples may find that they don’t need income from their traditional IRAs in certain years or all years. Some may not want the IRA income because these withdrawals are subject to ordinary income tax, and more taxable income may push these IRA owners into a higher tax bracket.
  • How do I get started?
    • Work with your IRA administrator to send donations to an operating charity, after consulting with your tax or financial advisor.
  • PLEASE WORK DIRECTLY WITH YOUR TAX OR FINANCIAL ADVISOR AND VISIT THE IRS WEBSITE TO LEARN MORE – IRS CHARITABLE GIVING
