“Hello, I am Jamie Barlow. I am a mother with 2 children affected by ADRENOLEUKODYSTROPHY, a girl and a boy. I am a symptomatic female with Adrenoleukodystrophy. I learned this LONG word on 11-03-1999 when I got to meet my biological mother, half-sister, and nephew. I learned about the United Leukodystrophy Foundation from late 1999 to early 2000; searching and searching for information. Then I started coming to the family conference. I wanted to learn as much as I could regarding Adrenoleukodystrophy from the doctors at the conference. I needed to get as much information and resources as I may need.

I have been in the medical field for the past 40 years. For the first 2 years, I was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. For the next 8 years, I was an AAMA Certified Medical Assistant. I am a Credentialed Teacher through UCLA. I have been Instructing Medical Assisting; Administrative, and Clinical with Medical Terminology for 25 years. I have been Nursing LVN for the last 23 years, at Cal Poly Pomona, CA, and I have my Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration in the last 12, though, at California Coast University. For the last 5 years, I have been retired. I have 25 years of experience and knowledge regarding the issues of ADRENOLEUKODYSTEOPHY and how to obtain the services that are available and needed.
